Frequently Asked Questions When Starting A Website:

How much is this going to cost me?
It is hard to put a exact price on the overall costs you will in-cure while making a website, but I can tell you it is quite minimal to how much you get in return. The only things you should pay for when constructing a website is a domain name, web hostingweb design (if you do not do it yourself), and advertising (optional).

What does URL Stand for?
URL stands for Universal Resource Locater and it is the unique address of each website listed on the World Wide Web. For an example, the URL for this website would be http://www.wizardofthewebsites.com/.

What is Website Hosting?

Website hosting is a set monthly fee that you must pay in order to have your website listed on the World Wide Web. The price for hosting can vary but is usually shown as a monthly fee and can be paid yearly. There is also free website hosting, but it usually comes with limitation. Please refer to  the "Website Hosts" page for a complete list of paid and free website hosting.

Why can I not find my website in any search engines?
If you are having trouble finding your website when you type its name in one of the common search engines there are several things you may need to do. First make sure you have registered your site with the common search engines. You can find the links for the common search engine submission pages under my "Attracting Visitors" page. Second, make sure you have spelled your websites URL correctly when you registered with the common search engines. Third, give it some time. Usually its takes a few weeks to a month before your site starts popping up on search engines. This is because search engines only update themselves every couple of weeks ro so.

What is a "DoFollow" Command?
A "DoFollow" website is a site that directs search engine bots to follow particular links that are listed on the web pages of that site. The "DoFollow" command is usually shown in the HTML source code for the website or in the Robot.txt file. The opposite of "DoFollow" is "NoFollow".

What is a "NoArchive" metatag?
"NoArchive" tells search engines not to cache the page (take a snapshot). If a site is frequently updated it is a good idea to have this metatag. When in place, search engines will most likely display up-to-date information when people search for it.

Helpful Tips To Get You On Your Way:

Never Violate the Trust of your Visitors:
If you are collecting visitors information make sure you do not sell or give away their information to other organizations. Gaining the trust of your visitors will make them feel comfortable to use your site over your competitors.

Update your Website as Much as Possible:
most people like to use the most updated information they can find. Keeping your website up to date will help keep your visitors coming back time after time.

Do Not Over Load your Website:
you should alway make your website look attractive, but don't over do it. Adding to many images, graphs, videos, ect. can slow the load time of your website to its viewers and may turn them away.

Think about your Audience:

When developing and maintaining your website remember to think about what is best for your customers / visitors and not what is best for you. The more convenient you make it for them, the better they will feel and the better off your site will be.

Keep an Eye on Things:
Constantly check up on your website to make sure everything is up and running properly. I you have links in your website, and you should, check to make sure they still work. Other sites that you are linked to may shut down, change their URL or post content that you may not approve of. To avoid this regularly check to make sure everything is on the up and up.
