What is a Domain Name?
The Domain Name of your website is the URL address that people will type in, in order to directly view your site. For example, the name of this site is Wizard Of The Websites, but the Domain Name is www.wizardofthewebsites.com. You should always keep your Domain Name and your website name as close to each other as possible. You do not want to confuse visitors because your domain name seems to be totally different from your website name, especially if you are running a E-Commerce website.

Domain Name and Site Association:
Also when choosing the perfect domain name you want to not only choose one that pertains to your site, but also choose one that is not too long and is not too confusing to where visitors have a hard time remembering it. In this situation, the shorter your domain name is the better off you will be to have people remember the URL so they visit your site and continue to visit in the future.  Always try to avoid using acronyms, dashes or other symbols as they may also confuse potential visitors for the first time. Also it would be wise to have a few different domain names written down just in-case your first choice is already taken by someone else. In my experience they usually are, so the more unique your domain name is the better chance you will have.

Domain Prices:
Prices will always vary when purchasing a domain name and can be as little as $6.99 to "who knows". I say "who knows" because there are a-lot of high dollar domain names out there especially if they are already owned and that person or company is reselling them. A lot of people will purchase domain names and sit on them until someone else wants to buy it from them, at a higher price of course. usually though most normal domain names can be purchased for around $9.99 depending on who you are registering with.

Registering you Domain Name:
There are however hundreds of sites that you can always choose from depending on which one suits your needs. The four that I listed above all help you with searching to see if your domain name is available, purchasing your domain name and even helps you with hosting and developing your site. I recommend using a site thats includes everything you need to get your website up and running because it makes everything that much easier and is usually cheaper due to the package deals they offer. Just remember to always make sure you are buying and registering your domain name with a legit site. You can accomplish this by always reading their terms and services to make sure everything is on the up and up. Do not feel like you must purchase your domain name with the first registrar you come across with. I recommend taking your time and doing a little research to find one you are comfortable with.

Common / easiest sites to register your domain with:
Go Daddy
Network Solutions
